Hello,

I have just upgraded my computer, replaced the cpu and gpu, and now when i try to play an audio file, it works normally while the computer is on 100 volume, the program that is playing the audio is at a 100 volume be it youtube, spotify or a game, but the physical knob of my speakers must not go over half otherwise the pc freezes so that i have to reset it via button, or it restarts itself, or it bsods.

The bsod states "irql not less or equal",

and the dump file says that the ntoskrnl driver caused the crash. I have reset my bios to defaults, deinstalled realtek drivers and i am currently running a ram diagnostic. The computer otherwise seems to be running normally but when the music gets loud the screen goes dark 馃槥

(The computer on pcpp in the link is very outdated, that is not the pc i am refering to)

you could back up your data and reinstall windows.

Specs?

But yeah, that sounds like the install is wonky. I'd recommend reinstalling windows.聽
As a stop gap you can go to windows update, check for updates, then look in Optional Updates to see if it has any microcode stuff it want to install

5950X/4090FE primary rig聽 |聽 1920X/1070Ti Unraid for dockers聽 |聽 200TB TrueNAS w/ 1:1 backup

Before the upgrade:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X

Asus Dual Radeon RX 6600XT

32GB 4x8 3600 CAS16 Corsair Vengeance

Aorus B450 Elite V2

Corsair H100i AiO

1TB Samsung 970 Pro M.2

1TB Samsung 980 Pro M.2

256GB Samsung 860 Evo SATA SSD

1TB Seagate Barracuda

2TB Seagate Barracuda

Corsair CX550F PSU

2x Corsair LL120 fans

4x Corsair ML120 fans

NZXT H510 case

TP Link 2.5GBPs networking card

TP Link Wireless networking card

After cpu and gpu upgrade:

AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D

XFX Radeon RX 7800XT Merc 319

The speakers that are connected when the problem appears are the Logitech Z906

The data including Windows was not deleted or reinstalled, i have just put the new parts in and installed their drivers (after i fully removed old ones). The OS is on the 1TB samsung ssd

Edit: The ram check that i ran has found no issues with the memory. I spent last 2 hours playing games with the volume on the speakers set to about half with absolutely no problems. Also i would not recommend fitting this gpu into this case as space is pretty tight 馃槵

If you see ntoskrnl.exe, you are either using a bad tool or looking in the wrong place. WhoCrashed and BlueScreenView are bad tools.

Go to C:\Windows\Minidump and check if you have any minidump files. If you do, go back to the Windows folder and copy the Minidump folder itself to the Downloads folder (You can use the desktop if you don't have OneDrive syncing files). Zip the copied folder and attach it to a post. Please follow the instructions to the letter as Windows doesn't like you messing with files in this location.

  • 2 weeks later...

061124-9500-01.dmp

Here is the minidump file.

I have used the computer for a week now but the same problem persists. If i turn the volume too high, the computer fully freezes.

Also, while i am playing a game or a program is fullscreen, if i activate a pop up window such as the volume control that pops up or pausing a song, basically anything that is a pop-up, the screen will go black for a second when it appears, and again when it dissapears. I do not know if this is a scaling issue or a GPU issue or what it is.
