Budget (including currency): £750

Country: England

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: General games

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc):

I'm planning on getting a PC as it was my 16th recently (today if you're seeing this when it's written). With my budget and limited knowledge I've gone for a prebuilt, well I'm going to. It's a ryzen 5 5600 paired with a 4060. I'm new to the pairing and 'cores' but I'm aware what the components do. I've added a wifi card because I cannot run ethernet through my house. If you need a link or more details just ask.

Prebuilts are completely fine if you don't want to build yourself. That being said, you can often get quite a bit better components at your budget if you are willing to build yourself.

A Ryzen 5600 and 4060 is not a bad pair really, they will game quite well.

Building a system is actually not very difficult and I can help you if you want ( over Discord ). I have helped well over 50 people through Discord while they built their first systems, some even younger than you!

https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/NxmFMC

You can see here that a 7700 XT does beat the 4060 Ti that again beats the standard 4060 quite comfortably.

This is a 15 game average at 1440p.

Honestly it seems like a fun journey and I'd be down. I don't have a job and this is basically my life savings so value for money would benefit me. If you enjoy the journey too then you're welcome to join me. I would like to start ASAP but I'm in the middle of my exams, we'll see how much time I have but I can order parts and keep them for when I'm ready. There is also the issue of a windows key but I'm sure there's a way to get it for cheap. Thanks for the input you might have convinced me to build my own.

I'm down!  I dont mind helping people out, especially if it can give a significant performance boost over a PreBuilt in the same price range.

I would highly recommend to buy all the components at once and not spaced out over many weeks, in case a components is DOA ( Dead On Arrival ) you might not be within the return window if you bought that motherboard 3 months ago but could only test it now.  Does that make sense?

We can alter the list to fit your budget and needs but I think the list I made is pretty damn solid.  Definitely owns the 5600/4060 PreBuilt.

As mentioned, I dont mind helping at all but I do expect you to watch some build guides ( I can link some ) to get at least somewhat familiar on how its done.

Windows keys can be bought super cheap elsewhere.  We are not allowed to discuss these sites here but I can tell you the one I use for my own keys.

I have over 50 purchases and nothing has gone wrong, the keys are around 20 bucks.

I see what you mean with the warranty stuff. I have a friend who just spent almost 2 grand on a PC at my age (💀) and he built it himself so I'll also ask him for tips but yes this is will do nicely. I'll keep you posted and of you want to give me your discord you can. Thanks a lot!

+30 pounds more for Intel platform, because Intel CPUs are sun-heaters and need tons of power delivery support

vs 30 pounds cheaper board on AM4 platform that doesn't need that many VRM phases to support 5700x3D without issues, and ATX size is just aesthetics at least for AM4.
