Hey folks, I'm currently running a 5800X3D on an Asrock Taichi X570. Is it worth upgrading to a 9800X3D? I don't want to spend the cash if it's not really worth it. I'm going to keep my RX6900XT for now. Will it boost FPS in games like Planetside 2? I see if I sell my current CPU/Mobo/Ram, I can get around $550 for it on eBay, I can get the upgrade bundle (AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, ASUS B650-E TUF Gaming WiFi AM5, G.Skill Flare X5 Series 32GB DDR5-6000 Kit) for $700, so the upgrade will cost me around $150. Worth it or wait for next gen Ryzen?

Thanks

p.s. Haven't posted in a long long time.

Are you still satisfied with your PC and how it perfroms?
If yes then dont think about jumping ship

You probably will see better performance in non gaming tasks like this

But at 1080 (used cause its more CPU bound than 1440p or 4K) its about 15% better on average which translates to about 20-30 frames give or take and depends on the games as well

On planetside 2 specifically you go to about 175 on average on the 5800x3d on 1080p High and 195 on 1440p High

To about 250 with a 9800x3d

Let it be noted that the 9800x3d Uses a 5080 rather than a 4080 like the 5800x3d so the gap in FPS in 1440p should be smaller so say 25-30 FPS more rather than 55ish

In more general gaming tho it seems like the 9800x3d is on average 30 to 40% faster at most and about 3% at least depending on the game so mileage may vary there

TL DR you got a good system still but if you wanna upgrade that badly for whatever reason you can expect about 20-30% more in general gaming if not a lil more

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

Are you struggling? You got high end AMD GPU and 3D cache CPU, I'd say that's pretty solid setup already.

Unless are you trying run newest 2025 AAA unoptimized games that came out in last 4 hours and can't wait few weeks for little bit of optimization updates?
