First PC Build

Go to solution Solved by SAV1OUR,

Yeah I guess, the only problem is that they are from different companies I I would prefer to get them form the same company and if I were to go with one company I think it could be getting up around $2000, I think I will stick with what I got now, the 770 will do me fine, I might eventually update to the 980 or 880 when it comes out and as for the i7 , the i5 would do but, I never thought of it till now but wouldn't the hyper threading really help with VM's?

hyper threading hasnt changed anything as far as i have seen, i guess you could look around but if i were going to be making it id stick with the i5

This is my first PC build and I was wondering would there be any compatibility issue or just any sort of issue, apart from the HDD :P

Case: Corsair Carbine 200R

Motherboard: ASUS Z97-PRO

CPU: Intel i7-4770k

RAM: 8GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600mhz (X2)

HDD:WD Blue 1TB

GPU: ASUS Geforce DirectCUII GTX 770 2GB

PSU:Corsair CX600M

I will be doing some minor overclocking so I gave myself a bit of head room in the PSU part of the build.

Main PC: CPU: i7-4770k RAM: 16GB Kingston HyperX Blu SSD: Samsung 850 Pro 256GB HDD: 1TB WD Blue GPU: ASUS GeForce GTX 770 2GB PSU: Corsair CX600M Case: Bitfenix Shinobi OS: Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit

Laptop: ASUS N56VJ

Really nice choice of motherboard, +1 for chopping the CPU to an i5 and getting a 780, to unlock a bit more funds you could drop the board to the Z97-A if you won't miss some of the features of the PRO, the PRO doesn't offer anything better for gaming over the A.

I might eventually upgrade to a 780 at the moment the 770 is fine though, but I want to get the i7 because I want the power for compiling complex programs (this is when I get better at the moment I am a beginner programmer)

The Z-97 range from ASUS is wonderful this gen IMO, the Z97-A is the best pick for a gamer IMO.

Can't wait to see their X99 boards.

Went with the Z97-PRO because if I ever go digital later with my audio as the PRO has digital audio built in

In which case the system is great, everything's compatible.

-Gaming

  • Battlefield 4
  • Counter Strike Source
  • And other FPS

-Virtual Machines

-Light Programming at the moment, but was thinking of the i7 because if its hyper threading would be useful when I program more complex programming

-Mild Overclocking

-Small amount of video and photo editing

I will look into, I feel I would be better of with the i7 for later on for more complex programming, and the 16gb ram for VMs, and i quite like the better expandability and the built in digital audio on the Z97-PRO, but great pick :)

actually for VM 16gb would be nice but you can always upgrade that later as for i7 if i i3 can run one with linux and windows 8 i think your fine (my free nas has a i3 windows 8 and linux runs fine)

Yeah I guess, the only problem is that they are from different companies I I would prefer to get them from the same company and if I were to go with one company I think it could be getting up around $2000, I think I will stick with what I got now, the 770 will do me fine, I might eventually update to the 980 or 880 when it comes out and as for the i7 , the i5 would do but, I never thought of it till now but wouldn't the hyper threading really help with VM's?
