Trying to save a Windows image to my storage 2.5" (F:) and Windows tells me a system image can't be saved to a drive that my computer boots from or that Windows is installed on -- but I don't have Windows installed on this drive, and in fact just formatted it last night.

I've generally had more issues with the included windows backup, so I'd use something like veeam for backups here if possible. Not sure the exact issue here, but there deprecating that backup mode from memory, so I'd stay away from it.

Hmm alrighty

I've been Using DiskGenius for the last 6 months or so and really like it.

You can do numerous things with it.

For your situation you can image the whole disk or specific partitions, and you can save it wherever you want.
