Hi I have an Alienware laptop (I know it was free).  I did a clean reset just for maintenance since it's an old machine, reinstalled my Nvidia drivers and got all my games installed. The problem is Everytime I boot up a game the screen goes black. I've had this issue in the past and janked thru it by changing my display mode with keyboard shortcuts to get my screen back, but now that doesn't work. Also anytime I try to change the display mode through Nvidia itself my screen irregularly flashes as I get notifications that it keeps try to change display mode. Any help in this matter would be most appreciated I'm lost for ideas

So it works fine with a second monitor but that kinda makes having a laptop a moot point right?

Sounds like a hardware issue, can you bring it to a repair shop?
