Hey,

I've been having an issue recently where my PC completely turns off under load - typically gaming.

I ran Prime95 & FurMark seperately with no issue, but running both simultaneously immediately shuts off the computer.

Event Viewer does not reveal anything out the ordinary.

No minidump is created.

Drivers & Windows are all up to date.

The usual SFC, DISM & CHKDSK didn't identify or fix anything.

I built the PC late 2020 and the specs are:

  • CPU: Ryzen 5 5600x

  • GPU: RTX 3070

  • RAM: 16GB DDR4 at 3600 MHz

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus B550i Pro AX (Latest BIOS)

  • CPU Cooler: ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II 240

  • Storage: Sabrent Rocket Q 2TB

  • PSU: Corsair SF600 80+ platinum

  • Case: NR200P with extension cable from the power plug to PSU

If i am looking at a new PSU, would it be advisable to go overkill with a 1000w or stick to a more reasonable 750w? The price difference between Corsair SF750 and Corsair SF1000 where i live is roughly $60 USD ($200 vs $260).

PSU suggestions are very welcome 🙂

I am not planning on upgrading in the immediate future, but maybe in a year or two as I tend to not play the most demanding games.

since it's only $60 more the 1000w will give you a wider upgrade path.

since it's only $60 just go with 1000w, it'll be a safer path for future upgrades + you won't need a new psu if you build a new pc [would also allow for multiple gpu's if you're into that lol], but yeah that's likely the PSU dying / being underpowered.

Alright, thanks 🙂

Guess a couple hundred dollars after more than 4 years ain't bad

True, if I'd had to pay for all my upgrades we'd be at over 1k so far :).
