Issue with invalid Linux install

I have attempted to install Ubuntu and Lubuntu on an old core 2 laptop and at the install process when naming the computer the invalid suffix pops up. Do I need a 32 bit version of Linux to work correctly on this specific machine?

Yes, any 32 Bit version will work.

Thanks  for reading and offering suggestions.  The processor is a core 2 duo p7350, in a Lenovo ideapad y530.  Wanted to use the laptop to test signage software. I will try a 32bit Linux distro, possibly anti.
