Budget (including currency):

 around 1000$

Country:

 US

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for:

I have always played primarily competitive games and have had no complaints about putting all my graphics settings as low as possible for the highest frames. However, recently, even then, some of the games I am playing, I have found, has not been worth it. Games such as COD or Marvel Rivals (I don't play either of them anymore).  I remember COD never hit over 80 FPS and Marvel Rivals was sitting around 50-60. I have also found myself playing single-player games a bit more, and recently got Expedition 33, and right away I found myself having to again put all my settings as low as possible just to not constantly drop frames. I have wanted to get other games, such as Wukong for a minute now but did not want to experience it as a blurry mess. I'm not looking to run these games at the highest settings possible, but at least at mid or upper range would be nice.

Other details

I originally bought a prebuilt in 2020 and these are the specs.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600 3.6GHz (4.2GHz Boost) 6-Core 12-Thread
GPU: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 4GB
Chipset: AMD B450
RAM: 16GB DDR4 3000MHz (2x8GB)
SSD: 512GB SATA SSD
CPU Cooler: RGB CPU Cooler
PSU: 600W 80 Plus Gold
Case: DEEPCOOL MATREXX 50 ADD-RGB 4F Mid-Tower Case 4x120mm ADD-RGB Fans, Full-size Tempered Glass Side and Front Panel

I was hoping to just upgrade my CPU and GPU, but came to find out that its not that simple and in many cases I would have to get a new Motherboard and also a new Case. I was thinking of keeping as many parts as I can from this PC (power, drivers, storage) and building a new one once I get the other parts. I do not care about the look or aesthetic of my PC, and if I need to get a new power supply or drivers, so be it. I would much rather wait and have a quality build that will last than have to rebuy something in a few years time. If possible a buy order would be appreciated. Which could allow me to slowly buy and build the PC over time would be great.

I understand that the PC parts marketplace is pretty terrible and has been for the past few years so if their is any website that has a good reference as to whether the parts are overpriced or what I should be willing to pay would also be greatly appreciated.

Another question I had was where the best places to sell your old parts? I assumed Ebay and Facebook Marketplace were the best places to go about it or is their is a faster way even if you lose a bit more.

Sorry for all the questions and any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!!!

What board is that? The acrual model nr. It should be on the board often hidden by the gpu.

You say prebuilt but is it using all off the shelf parts? As it does have a lot of them it seems.

If its a normal board you can update the bios and get a new cpu. If not then its well a problem.

Also what EXACT psu is that? 600w actual good units could mean quite a few options without upgrading the psu.

If board bios can be upgraded id say 5700x3d, b580 and 32gb ram.

Got some pics? Rgb cpu cooler is also a but euhh nondescript :p.

You can also find it through Windows info PC, or when watching sensors the name of MB is displayed.

I believe my board is Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.  B450M DS3H WIFI. The power supply is the picture attached. And the fans are in the picture of the pc also attached which is the prebuilt I bought. ABS Challenger Gaming PC .

For the RX 9060 XT 16GB. Would I have to change my motherboard for this I assume since the recommendation didn't provide motherboards I would be okay with the one I have now if not all good.

I don't really plan atm to buy everything all at once so if I bought the CPU now would I be able to swap it into my PC or would that cause bottlenecking I don't know to much about it but I remember when I was looking by myself its something that can harm or result in lower performance.

Thank you so much

You want to replace this regardless of if you upgrade or not. These are exceptionally bad and just randomly die.

As for the board it can have the bios updated to run a 5700x3d. Youll want a better cooler because the one o  there is actually worse than the stock one that comes with a 3600x. Its purely aesthetic and is just bad.

Luckaly if in the us a psu and cooler upgrafe is less than 100$ and thus less than a new board!

What should I look for when it comes to the PSU and cooler.

Id say this is a good upgrade path. The 5700x3d is quite a bit better but the price premium IS A LOT. For some reaosn the 5700 is cheaper than a 5600 so yeah just get that.

Cooling wont be great because of the closed front pc case but well a oversized cooler like that is gonna keep things well in check cpu wise.

Leaves you about 700$ for a gpu and well there are gpu's like this one available for the price.

Smidge more and the 9070xt's start coming up.
