I'm curious as to what's out there that is similar to the Surface but not as expensive. I'm trying to look for a tablet that can run windows, and HAS to have at least one usb port (on the actual tablet) so I can maybe dual boot linux. It also has to be decently fast and keyboard attachable. I like the fact that laptops have plenty of USB ports, sd card slots, etc but I sometimes wish I could just reach out and touch the screen to move something. A laptop/tablet hybrid wouldn't be bad either. At least 4+ hours of battery life too.

The Asus T100 might offer what you want if you get the 500gb dock/keyboard

It doesn't have the USB port on the tablet. It has the micro one yes, but not the 3.0 type. Also, it doesn't quite support Linux very well because of the processor. I actually bought the T100 but when I found out Ubuntu didn't work on it (I tried it myself as well), I returned it.

As for the T300, it's about the same price as the Surface 2 pro.
