Hi All,

I've currently got a bit of an old system and the time for some upgrades has come. Would anyone mind suggesting some routes to take to eventually have an upgraded system? I don't want to just buy a new pc build outright, but rather upgrade slowly overtime to stretch some of the costs. I'm pretty happy with the low bottleneck I have achieved but am willing to go other ways too!

My current system is as follows,

Processor    Intel Core i9-9900K
Installed RAM    16.0 GB

GPU   RTX 3060 12gb

Motherboard    Asus Prime Z390-P LGA1151 (no wifi needed for upgrade, but would be nice)

Power supply   Corsiar RM750 fully modular Gold Rated

Cooler    Noctua NH-D15

Storage    2X Samsung 970 pro SSD (No need to upgrade yet)

I was thinking of doing a Processor and Motherboard upgrade first (probably switching to AMD), but let me know what you guys think! eventually everything will have to change!

Thanks in advance for any suggestions and time taken!

A cpu, motherboard, and maybe ram upgrade will be better right now. what is the speed and cl of your ram.

I'll have to check BIOS real quick but if I'm not mistaken its 2 sticks of Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB DDR4 3600 MHZ at 16 cl

If you want AM5 you'll need DDR5 RAM, if AM4 you'll meed DDR4 RAM.

What do you need? Which games aren't giving you enough FPS/details/both? 1080p or higher resolution?

Your system would satisfy many ghetto members like myself but I don't know your particular wants or needs. RAM is very cheap so if you use RAM-heavy apps and games, I'd upgrade that & happily use the system for some years into the future without upgrading anything else, but without knowing your particular needs, it's hard to say.

Well youll want all 3 CPU, Motherboard, and RAM if you want latest platform. Going AMD but sticking to DDR4 means youre still going to be at AM4 which unless if you play cache bound titles itll be not enough of an upgrade to justify, unless if you can get the Intel CPU and motherboard sold at their exorbitant rates right now on ebay or local marketplace.
