Confused with G-sync AMD free Sync-Looking forward to buy a 2k or 4k Monitor for Video Editing as well as Photoshop: Need help in choosing one .

 

Current laptop Specs:-

GeForce GTX 1650 4GB

15.6 FHD 120Hz

AMD Ryzen™ 7 4800H Processor

Windows 10

Gsync and Freesync is mainly used for gaming.  For video editing and photoshop it shouldn't matter.

I'd add, I'll assume that laptop wont have GPU switching, so the video output will always be via the AMD iGPU. In that case, if you were to get a VRR display, lean towards a FreeSync one.

 

Focus more on good colour reproduction for those uses. For video it helps to be at the video's native rate, or an integer multiple of it, to avoid any uneven frame timing during playback. VRR doesn't always resolve that and can lead to brightness flickering.
