Thanks man. I'll take a look around the used market in my area, along with deals and such.

Don't forget facebook marketplace, if you have facebook. Some one-time deals there could match the performance of the PC list above, if you get lucky.

Budget (including currency): My budget is $400-$500 USD

Country: I live in America on the west coast

Games, programs, or workloads that it will be used for: I will be playing a lot of different video games such as Team Fortress 2, most source 1 and 2 games from Valve, lots of VR games, and other games that may be released later this year. I don't play most triple A title games. I lean more to indie games like Deltarune, Undertale, lower end games.

Other details: I don't necessarily have a list of parts I want to use BUT I do want a GPU with lots of VRAM (12 or 16 should do), at least 1TB of storage, and at least 16 GB of RAM. I won't need any peripherals as this PC is replacing another one that I am giving to my friend, so I have a 1080p 75hrtz monitor, mouse, keyboard, etc. I don't care what company the parts come from as long as they are reputable, so AMD GPUs are on the table.

You want a lot of things for a tight budget.

Something like this perhaps?   You would have to find a GPU on the used market for 150 bucks with 12-16GB Vram, maybe a 3060 12GB or 6700 XT 12 GB ?

That's ~800$+ PC if you're using all new parts.

Should I go for a card with a little less VRAM?

If you can't stretch budget, it might be the only way to get there, what's do the VR games look like, you mentioned quite easy-to-run games, but VR on average sits at the opposite spectrum of demanding, or in the middle, depending on game.

12GB can still be fine for example, GTX 1080Ti has 11GB of VRAM, perhaps an old card, but still decent example. Or more modern example, the RTX 3060.

The VR games are Half Life: Alyx, Beat Saber, VRChat (rarely), etc.

I suppose if these games worked before with GPUs like 1080Ti that is only 11GB VRAM, it might not be that big of a concern. Unless you can find used 16GB card with your remaining budget.

Not all of the 3060 range cards have 12GB of VRAM, there's RX 6650 XT, RX 7600, RTX 2070+, RTX 4060 or the 1080Ti for example.

There's few other 12GB+ cards, but not sure if your remaining budget would be able to afford these, even used: RX 7600 XT, RX 6700 XT, RX 6750 XT, RTX 2080Ti (11) or RX 6800. Because these cards are still very good, so finding them cheap and working at the same time, probably not possible.

By the way, here's slightly tweaked @Hinjima's list, looking for whatever can be found cheaper:

You could choose a bit more expensive M.2 option if you don't trust KingSpec brand. Other parts like, CPU, PSU and case are really solid for their very low price, or just don't have cheaper alternatives that would be equal or better.
