So, home network here. Just one user, nothing special.

My cable internet provider, Spectrum, provides a cable modem and a wifi router as separate devices. So, the modem has an ethernet cable that runs to the router.

The router has just four ethernet out ports. They are used by my desktop Windows PC, my laptop, and my PS5. Occasionally I plug my steam deck into the fourth. My question is, how can I affordably add ports to this network? It doesn't have to be a lot, like less than 8 would probably be plenty. What devices should I be looking at? I can't replace Spectrum's devices, this has to be something I can add to my network. I would like to run ethernet to my Roku, but if I do that it will dedicate one of my ports.

All you need is a simple, unmanaged Gigabit Ethernet switch to add more ports to your existing network. Plug the switch into your router, then plug more Ethernet stuff into the switch. No other setup or configuration required!

I sold my soul for ProSupport.
