Single or Dual Dimm?

Go to solution Solved by The Crazed Child,

Dual channel is way better than single channel.

Think of it this way:

Two four-seater cars (AKA 2X4GB DIMMs) deliver the people to the destination faster because each vehicle is lightweight. Compare that to one eight-seater car (AKA 1x8GB DIMM), it will deliver the people to the destination much slower because of the weight holding back that single vehicle. This is an analogy of how dual channel works.

So im probably going for an 8gb kit, and im wondering if I should go with a single 8gb dimm for upgradeability, or 2 4gb dimms? (in a 2 dimm board). This will be a 100% gaming PC, with no editing or anything.

A dual channel MoBo will work best with dual channel RAM. So get a 2 x 4GB kit. 8GB's is more than enough for gaming and if you want 16GB in the future you can add another 2 x 4GB kit. Doubt you'll ever need 32GB's for gaming anyway.
