GPU Troubleshooting - Photo Editing

Hello to all - I need a bit of help I am a semi-professional photographer and I have recently upgraded to a new camera for landscape photography.

 

A Fujifilm GFX 100S, 102 megapixels and the files run around 120-130 MB each. Its about as stressful as you can get for photos and editing. To my surprise today I am getting some substantial chugging and slowdowns when honestly trying to do anything., its infuriating and extremely slow.

 

I'm running the files off of a Western Digital Black 8 TB M.2 So I don't think that's the issue. I also don't think the other components in my system are the issue. The other specs in my system are:

 

7950X3D

96GB 5600Mhz Crucial Ram

3080 12GB

 

I believe the issue I'm running into is that it is constantly popping up to the 12gb VRAM limit on the GPU, is that correct that it would be causing the chugging, slowdowns and sometimes instability?

 

See the quick phone video below, it rarely goes below 11 and gets close to 12 any time I have a photo open. The video is me making a couple of masks and zooming into photos, as well as making some adjustments, nothing crazy and it was really slowing down badly.

 

I appreciate the help, I thought I had a lead here, as the utilization of the GPU is not extreme but it is right at the VRAM limit.

Not sure who needs to hear this, but this was checked on to use the GPU and completely tanking my performance, it took 11 minutes to export 27 photos!

 

By unchecking this and using the CPU more my performance is back to being better, BUT this previously was faster to use the GPU and I had it purposely checked but it was really really rough today.

 

My question still remains on was it the VRAM causing the issues above?
