I know it says 5600g but the same applies to the 5600GT.

Yes. An integrated GPU (iGPU) is still a GPU and as such needs drivers, if you want it to perform properly.

 

It's simply integrated into the CPU and as a result smaller and less performant than a discrete GPU.

All GPUs need drivers, dGPUs or iGPUs.
