I'd get a smaller case like the H440 because the 900D is huge and not well build. Also I'd get less fancy ram and save 100 pounds there. Also I'd get a 500gb 840 evo instead of the pcie ssd because even tho these are two SSD's in raid a 840 evo with rapid mode can match it. And is cheaper. For the PSU I'd rather go for the RM1000 as that's already plenty overkill for this setup and it's cheaper and quieter. Also there is no need for the sound card since the onboard audio on the Maximus VI Formula is excellent and can already powe 600 ohm headphones.

Why the RoG SSD? Just get a Samsung 840 PRO/EVO

Well tbh ive not used one yet so wanted to give it a try. And i would go for a 840 or maybe a Intel 730K

Any reason you're not going Z97?

Those PCI-e ssd's are expensive aren't they...

I just dont like going for brand new stuff, i like to go with what we know and what works well. and yes they are expensive, might just go a 840 SDD like these two are saying

Thanks, are take a look now.

Well the case i got for cheap off a "friend" :P so its here now and i really like it.

Yeah the Ram is still an issue i will admit.

Remember there is still a watercooling loop to go in there so id rather have alittle bit more to spare then take it to the limit

That soundcard shouldn't have been in there, i was gonna try out the onboard audio and if i didnt like it go with that. (My bad)

It's all good. I like how you chose the ROG SSD to go with your motherboard. The Corsair Obsidian 900D has a windowed case, it would look great to match your SSD with your mobo! Just like what I did with my rig. I chose the ASUS GTX 770 to go with my ASUS Z87-A, even though the ZOTAC GTX 770 AMP! was $50 cheaper.

I hope you're running your hard drives in RAID 0, since 5400 RPM is a little slower than usual, or you might as well just grab a single 4 and 2 TB 7200 RPM HDD.

The power supply is a little overkill, but it's got 80+ Platinum and Corsair Zero RPM Mode, so I see why you might go a bit overkill with you rig.

Honestly, I think it's perfect! Have fun!  :)

They're basically refreshed Z87's with extra features and the ability to accept Broadwell chips. Nothing noteworthy there.

I haz a 4930k at 4.5ghz and dual Titan Blacks and a custom watercooling loop. Under full load (furmark and Aida 64) it uses 800 watts.

2x8GB would be better than 4x4GB as it allows for future upgrade without replacing modules and is marginally more efficient (not noticeably so). You might consider G.Skill TridentX which has better timings than the Dominator Platinums.

If the Red hdd are not going to be in a RAID array, go with a 4 TB 7200 rpm drive.

Are you sure you will need such a large psu, even with all the cooling equipment? I would have thought that 860W - 1000W would be more than sufficient.

Generally a sound card isn't needed. Do you have a particular need not addressed by the on-board sound sub-system?

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Iam just looking into the G.skill now, ive not seen that before.

PSU issue as been resolved by Izaya lol

Ive not used this board before so gonna try the on board audio then see. Anyone else used the SupremeFX on board audio?

Really, i thought that 4x4GB was better for performance? anyone else comment?

Quad channel is faster than dual channel, but I don't know by how fast and it might be not that noticeable. Single channel to dual channel, though, are noticeable when doing video editing, rendering, graphics design, and such. For gaming, it's not going to be much and 16GB of RAM for gaming isn't that necessary anyway. So yes, it's faster, but with 2X8GB, you'll have extra slots for another 2X8GB so you can have a total of 32GB in the future.

Well we had an incident just yesterday where we nearly maxed out 16GB of ram running something like 12 Eve online clients, so perhaps 8GB sticks would be more suited.

quad channel is only usefull on 2011 which supports it. 1150 does not , only dual
