Please Help.

Upgraded from i3 12100F to i5 14400F but no post or display.

Specs:

B660m d2h ddr4

XFX Radeon RX9070XT Pro Gaming (newly upgraded and installed drivers got all working with old cpu)

Intel i3 12100F (working but no display after upgrade to i5 14400F

32GB 3200mHz DDR4.

Please if any help or possible solutions would be greatly appreciated. Feels like the current i3 im running will be a big bottleneck on the system.

Did you update the BIOS of the motherboard to support the 14400F?

If not, you have to install the 12100F again and update the BIOS.

The 14400F is only supported on BIOS version F27 or later.

Was hoping that would not be necessary as the mobo manual states it supports 14th gen as well. GPU drivers are almost done then ill give it a go and post an update.

Thanks a lot for the quick response.

It does support the 14th gen CPU, after a BIOS update 🙂

Keep me updated, I'll be here for a few more hours.

What do you mean by GPU drivers are almost done?

Are you using the 12100f now?

Yes indeed, tore everything apart and started on the bench... made the mistake of assembling everything 🤣🤣

Okay 🙂  You can enter your BIOS now and check what version you have.

Let me know so I can double check it.

Lets see if thats the reason why it wont boot with the 14400F

Do you think the q-flash is fine or should i do it the long way around?

Sorry for all the questions.

Its much better to ask questions over doing anything wrong.  No problem at all.

Q-Flash is fine if you want to use it.

I'm just chilling in Classic WoW so 🙂

How the hell will i know if this thing is done

Hooked everything up and disconnected all the other parts, pressed the button, switched on, switched off.

Now nothing, how will i know when it is finished?

There should be a light somewhere that will be flashing

Most likely near the Q-Flash button.

No light anywhere and my psu fan switches off under low load 😝 fantastic 🤣

A BIOS update usually takes 4-6 minutes.  Wait 10 more minutes and then try to turn the PC on

Go into the BIOS and check the version.

If F4, you did something wrong 😄

Nope, they stopped supporting q flash at f21 🤣🤣 but i already installed new bios and the cpu and all is working now, listening to Linus explain to me how to set up the bios for the best settings possible

Aha! Haha, fair enough.

Thats great news that everything is working now 🙂

Enjoy!
