A while back I bought a parted out Acer Predator Orion 3000 model #D22W10 which had its cpu and storage drives taken out, when I finally got the CPU for it everything seemed to work fine, until I tried to install windows. While attempting to install windows 11  found out the nvme was not detected. Tried the other port still was not detected. So I tried a sata sdd with windows pre installed on it but, it would not boot into it, just giving out a blue screen with  Inaccessible_boot_Device. from there I went into bios to check if I'm in UFIE or legacy found out that the onboard sata controller is VMD Control and can not be changed. Also noticed that in the integrated peripherals section where the onboard sata controller options are, the nvme is detected but, in my boot order the nvme is not detected. at this point I'm stuck and not sure how to go on to fix this issue. I'm not well informated about BCD (boot configuration data) hoping someone on here can help me out.

also safe boot is not accessible I tired through cmd it denied access.

specs

i5 13400f

acer rtx 4060

32gb xpg ddr5 ram

1tb Teamgroup nvme

500w power supply

Was the SSD properly formatted? If it has active windows 11 installation it might have Bitlocker enabled off the bat which links the storage to the board on that Predator PC.

Try resetting the bios and make sure uefi boot is enabled or update the bios of your motherboard and see if your issue is resolved.

I've tried to flash the bios but it doesn't do anything not sure if I'm doing it incorrectly. I've looked up guides on flashing acer bios but they all do through an executable not through a usb. there is a flash option in bios but it doesn't do anything.

So VMD is Intel's Volume Management Device. And for NVMe drives this looks like it plays with Intel RST (Rapid Storage Technology).

With Intel VMD enabled, all PCI devices behind the VMD controller, for example, NVMe controller inside NVMe SSDs, will be invisible to the operating systems on the server.

So if it's doing what I think it's doing you need to load a driver at the Windows installer for the NVMe drive to show up. I've had this happen when RAID was set instead of AHCI.

Probably why your pre-installed Windows did not work is because the board needed to load a driver the SSD did not have installed.
