Hello,

i am going to make my first custom loop and i am ordering the components internationally so i am looking for feedback :)

My setup :

i7 4770k @ 3.5Ghz
ASUS MAXIMUS VI Formula
ASUS GTX 780 Poseidon
CoolerMaster CM Sniper
PSU Corsair AX860
Corsair Vengeance® Pro Series 16GB @ 2400 Mhz

My Loop components :

EK Water Blocks EK-Supremacy

XSPC EX240 Multiport Dual Fan Radiator

XSPC RX120 Single Fan Radiator V3 - Black

EK Water Blocks EK-BAY DCP 2.2 Combo Unit incl. Pump

XSPC - EC6 Non Conductive Coolant - Blood Red

10 x EK Water Blocks EK-CSQ 19/13mm Compression fitting G1/4 - Black

XSPC 1/2 ID 3/4 OD High Flex 2m (Retail Coil) - CLEAR

XSPC G1/4 Blank Plug (Black Chrome)

Bitspower Ball Valve 1/4 inch - Matt Black

i am thinking to put the dual 120 radiator on top and the 120 radiator on the bottom with draining system. And also i am looking for some suggestions for fans i need 3 x 120mm red led for the radiators. And do you think that this two radiators are going to be enough for my system?

Thanks for the feedback in advance :)

I would go mayhems coolant instead of the EK. I've heard the EK has really messed up some peoples parts. Never heard that about Mayhems.

I have 5x 120mm in my system but you should be good with the rads.

I would get static pressure fans like the corsair sp120s. LED fans aren't static pressure optimized and could be loud. I would go with the sp120s and a LED strip.

@be4i

welcome to the Linus Tech Tips forums!

parts listing looks complete. the pump is fine for CPU, a bit pressure bound for

a multi-block setup. the XSPC EC6 coolant is fine. a little transparent for most

but just fine. i'd suggest distilled water first to prevent spending butt-loads of

money on a potential leak of expensive coolant.

fans can make/break the build. the EX-series needs some fast fans to keep

thermal levels controllable and that could be an issue, but depending on your

tolerance to noise.

to be honest (tbh) depending on temperature desired, tolerance to fan noise and

overclocking skills (if needed) i don't think it'll be a quiet build. not a knock on the

sniper, but the limited mobo space to the roof and cold fusion block will cause

some difficulty. on normal mobos it wouldn't be an issue, but because the MOSFET

block impedes into the roof area, i believe you'll not like the result. and for a first

experience you might get discouraged on the outcome.

might i suggest a simple CPU loop, learn from that and then move to including the

GPU later? you're fixing to drop a large amount of money (internationally) to get

quasi-good results and not improve on a lot, except an emptier wallet. location?

I can vouch that the EX Series Fans do not need more than 1400RPM 1500 RPM Fans to function perfectly well....the Split Fin design works far more efficiently then previous thin High Density Rads, such as Swiftech MCP XP's......same as the new RX ver3 Rads...also wortk fine with a High SP 1400 - 1500 RPM Fan ;)

Using both Corsair SP 120 Quiets and Noctua NF F Series with combination of EX and RX ver 3 Rads...no complaints at all ;)

I've re-built my loop twice now in the past 2 months...was my first kick at WC'ing...it really isnt Rocket Science at all...no "myths"..simple plumbing 101 ;) Go for it....and above all have fun as its incredibly addicting !!

Hey, thanks for the feedback :) i am from Bulgaria.I don't really like the idea of making cpu only loop, and i going for quite build really, so i am 50/50 on the current case (CM Sniper) i was thinking of getting Fractal Design Define XL R2 (what do you think ?) and if i get other case (with more space) what rads are you going to recommend i get? (for quite operation), and if i stay with the sniper what rads do you thing i should get?

If change that tubing for some primochill advanced lrt. I've heard that XSPC tubing is pretty crap, everything else looks ok though.

i made a little changes, i think i will get Alphacool NexXxoS ST30 Full Copper 240mm for the top of the case and 2 x Alphacool NexXxoS ST30 Full Copper 120mm for the back and bottom of the case. These radiators are optimized for low speed fans i am going with corsair sp120 quiet edition, tonight i am going to measure if the 240mm radiator + 120mm fan which is 55mm height its going to fit in my case at the top. Also i am thinking of changing the pump + reservoir to XSPC Acrylic Dual 5.25 Reservoir/Pump Combo with One 18w Laing DDC which is stronger pump and i think is going to be enough for the loop. What do you guys think are this 3 radiators going to be enough to cool down everything ? (cpu+gpu+SB+VRAM)

thanks for the advice i am going to get primochill tubing :)

I would also suggest dumping the Pump/Res combo unit in favor or a standalone reservoir and pump. Might be a little more expensive but I have almost always herd bad things about the combined units. Such as leaking/not putting out the L/H they are ment to etc. just best to avoid them.

Quack 🦆

okay then i guess will get them separately thx :)

i just found out something i can put the fans on the top outside of the case so i can fit a 50mm thick rad on the top with no problem :)

Pump/res combos are fine, I wouldn't swap because of one bad story.

Be careful not mounting the fans directly to the radiator. Air, like water, always takes the path of least resistance, so if there's a gap between your fans and rad, air will be sucked in from the sides instead of through the radiator.

I have a Photon 170 Pump / Rez combo and it is excellent...no issues at all....the best pump D5 Laing Vario comes mounted to a very nice high quality "glass" reservoir with accent lighting...excellent purchase ;)

I even added the Bits Power D5 Pump "Black Sparkle" Mod kit....perhaps there are some crap combo's out there, but the Photon 170 or 270 isnt one of em ;)

Dont be put off by suggestions of only cooling the CPU "for now".....wtf??? as you said, pointless really to go full liquid cooling if you're not prepared to WC GPU's, otherwise a decent AIO for CPU's is adequate!!

Grab your GPU Blocks and go for it I say ;)
