Planning a new build, can i just get some thoughts on it please?

CPU: i5 4670K 3.4Ghz Changed to i7 4770K 3.5Ghz

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO Changed to Noctua NH-U14S

Motherboard: Asus Z97-A

RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600 (2x8GB) Changed to Corsair Vengeance LP 1600 (2x4GB)

GPU: EVGA GTX 780 Ti 3GB Super clocked ACX

Storage: Samsung 830 Series 256GB SSD (Will be taking this from my current system)

 - Western Digital Black 1TB HDD (Taken from my current system)

 - Seagate Hybrid 1GB SSHD

PSU: Corsair RM 750W Full Modular 80+ Gold Changed to Corsair RM 650W Full Modular 80+ Gold

Optical Drive: LiteOn DVD/CD Writer (Just a basic thing for the rare occasions i need to put a disk in)

Case: Corsair 450D

OS: Windows 8.1 (64 Bit)

Will be using my current monitor too which is 23" Philips 230C 1080p (may upgrade to a bigger one next year)

I'm fairly happy with the parts i've picked, only part that makes me scratch my head is the Motherboard, is it a good one?

PS. Want to keep this to Air Cooled only, not interested in Water Cooling just yet.

@Retro1989 Greetings new member :) welcome to the LTT forums.

Your build looks pretty sturdy mind you do you plan on adding another 780 ti in the coming months? If not you should probably downgrade your power supply if you won't be running sli with dual 780 ti's. 16GB ram is quite a lot, if you're only gaming I'd advise to get a 2x4GB dual channel kit but it's up to you.

welcome to the forums!

dont get vengeance pro ram, get the lp version.

why do you need an sshd?

the motherboard is good.

you dont need 750 watts.

and i would invest a bit more in my cpu cooler.

You are mostly buying top premium components, so why skimp on cpu cooler? Id go with something quieter and better like:

enermax t40 ( quiet replacement for evo )

termalight macho for more oc

That enermax barely an upgrade from the EVO

I'd say get the NH-U14s, or D15 for duel tower as you'll be able to get a nice overclock going.

Thanks for the replies.

@Kingsley, SLI probably won't happen so i'll get a lower watt PSU. Went with 16GB just for "Future Proofing".

@Manny, will take a look at those Coolers thanks.

@Rheinwasser, will change to the LP version thanks.

Thanks for the welcome as well :)

but then get 8gb and a 4770k, ram is easily upgradeable, the rest is not.
