Alternative to Slingbox

Why did they have to EOL Slingbox. I need a solution that I can connect to some type of STB (Set Top Box) so I can monitor different channel feeds. This is for a job not personal use. Any suggestions or first hand experience?

There's the HDHomerun PRIME, if you need something that can take a CableCARD. You'll need some way to connect to it over the network though.

Are you monitoring headend feeds, or do you just need a receiver somewhere that can pull in cable or OTA?

If you need to record, and you can gather a bunch of baseband inputs or ASI streams, MediaProxy LogServer is the go-to now that Volicon Observer is discontinued and out of support, but it may be way overkill if you're replacing SlingBoxes.

Unfortunately, I don't think there's a 1-for-1 replacement to the SlingBox out there. If you're monitoring multiple distribution points in the network outside the plant, you'd probably need something like an HDHomeRun and a VPN appliance to reach it. You would have to combine a regular cable box with an H.264 encoder and some kind of semi-homemade IR blaster solution.
