Desk mic will easily be better quality, but if you have a mechanical keyboard, especially one with blue switches, it can easily pick up the noise. Blue Snowball is the usual recommendation on budget for a good desktop mic. If you can get a boom arm for it to bring it closer to your mouth then that would be optimal.
