HDMI Cable issue

I gotta ask does anyone else go through HDMI cables like toilet paper with their blower style GPU's?
I have a 3080 founders edition (10gb) and for some reason (all theory here) my HDMI cables go bad over time, causing my screen to go black for 1s up to indefinitely depending on how long I've been using it. It comes back if I pull out the cable OUCH ITS TOO HOT TO TOUCH) it trends going black more and more frequently for longer and longer over time.
I am gaming at 4k 120hz
I used to have a similar set of symptoms on my 1070 blower style card on my 4k monitor, and it would and still does always resolve once I purchase a new HDMI cable.

A standard cable as far as I know has no active components so that shouldn't be happening.

How hot do you let your GPU get?

 

Crazy. Maybe work on your case flow a little bit.

What case and how many case fans do you have?

 

And what do you do with your GPU on a regular basis to get it so hot for so long?

 

Also, have you tried not using a 90 degree cable? With a 90 degree cable youre putting it right in the path of the hot air and covering the only exhaust port
