I understand they are both under the tp link umbrella. If they do ban them. Would they just stop working? Do you think they would fund a rip and replace like they did with telco's?

I expect it's just a ban on new sales. If TP-Link were to deliberately offline the devices, they'd be offering a refund or getting GIGASUED

There's not going to be a cost effective way to do that even if TP Link wanted to.

Hard to sue a corporation that can no longer operate in the country they are getting sued in… 

 

But I also doubt they would push a firmware to brick devices. Not good PR.
