So currently I have an i5-8400 with a GTX 1050 TI and I was looking at 7800 XT used market here in East Europe and prices for cards are insane. Should I bite the bullet and get a 7800 XT brand new or wait a few months to see how things pan out. Honestly I would pay a lot of money for a gpu since like most adults I won't have that much time for gaming. I recently got a 27"inch monitor at 160hz and dunno what to do in this situation. I'll probably switch to AM5 platform later but dunno what to do now. Any advices?

I would wait. If prices are that insane out there then that kind of kills any value a used card can have.

Also, the new generation of AMD cards launches in early March, so that 7800-XT isn't even previous gen yet and that could be why it is priced so high.

Ooof, that's a creaky old CPU with an old entry level GPU. What PSU do you have? Make, model, and wattage please

Any ideas?

Well you should only keep the case, the PSU and the cooler, maybe the RAM if you go AM4 on a low budget, the rest isn't worth sh#t really... BTW it's weird you have such good "secondary" parts for such crappy main components 😛 !

And what's your use case ?

Just gaming here and there. And yeah I know my secondary parts are weird but I had a i5-12400 pc with monitor that I've sold and these are the left over components I had around 😅

OK but what kind of gaming ? Things like CS on one hand and CP2077 on the other don't need the same hardware combo

To be honest beside World of Warcraft and Eve Online I don't play that many games. Want to try new stuff like Helldivers 2 or Forza Horizon at some point but beside that I won't know what games would I play in the future but I want a little wiggle room for future proofing a little

OK so maybe you should lean more towards a good GPU, but what's your budget ?

Around $760. Maybe it's not much for today's gpu prices but that's my limit

Best I can do with German PCP is around 780EUR (but that's with VAT)

You can't get a great GPU below 500EUR, but then your weak CPU won't keep up, so better upgrade everything

You could try the Arc B580 instead of the 7600XT but I'm not sure it should be recommended as drivers are still quite hit or miss

And if you only have an old 256GB SSD you definitely need a NVMe drive 🙂

So after some searching i could afford a RTX 4070 Class GPU but i dont know the differences between Super, TI, TI Super and so on or a RX 7700 XT. The difference between them is around 200$ i believe
