Terve!

I have to admit that I am new to this commutity. But the last time surprized me so much (positive) that I just try it again.

So, the problem I currently have is on my PC called Kazumi.

I installed Windows 7 Ultimate on 2 SSDs in RAID 0 just some days ago.

As I start her up, there is a logo which tells me that one SSD has an error (Error accured (0)).

The weired thing about this is that she continues booting and has no problems at all.

The reason why I ask this is for one: there is lost boot time (I know it is not much, but anyways)

and for the other: I do not want to have a dying SSD in my system also if I do not have any special data on it.

Thanks already for helping me.

Sayonara!

Is the RAID running on your onboard chipset, or on a RAID card?

Terve!
Well, normally I spa way too many informations around. So I was holding myself back.

I have two Intel 530 SSDs in RAID 0, running of the onboard chipset of my ASUS Maximus VI Formula.

It has a not overclocked 4770k on it and runs two Sapphire 7970 in Crossfire.

I have 16GB of Corsair Dominator Platinum RAM (1866, 9-10-9-27).

I have a 2TB WD green Drive for storage.

This whole thing sits in a Cosmos 2 and is liquid cooled.

Hopefully, I have shown all information needed.

Disable in BIOS the ASMedia SATA controller. I have found that the second SATA controller on ASUS boards causes RAID issues, most likely due to the Driver. You might have to remove the driver as well to prevent it from screwing up the RAID 0 array. If you are using the ASMedia Controller, don't, you have 6 Intel SATA ports  which is fine for your setup.

I roll with sigs off so I have no idea what you're advertising.

I tried it, but I will be able to tell you, if it worked as soon as I get the PC back up and running.

I disabled the Asmedia-Chips in the BIOS and made a "not overclocked" profile - so I can start, as soon as it is ready, restarted the PC and than I had a "no post".

I thought it was because of the settings I changed and set the BIOS back (with the button on the back).

Now, 10 secounds after she starts (so to say, I am pressing the start button) she shuts down immediately just to restart and shutdown again.

I will have to see, what I screwed, but until then. There will be no testing.

I would guess you did not set to not overclock, running default (no overclock) should actually work as opposed to overclocked. Unless you did something else?

Terve!

Well, this is not starage anymore, but anyways.

I set the CPU to 3.6GHz @ (I guess) 1.1V, I set my RAM to the Profile it runs at.

I fixed cache ratios and set the Multiplier for every core (to 36 @ 100 MHz FSB).

I also disabled Onboard Audia and things I do not need in this menu.

Now, what prabably screwed the whole thing, is that I disabled some asmedia things in the BIOS.

If they were the wrong things I had a reason for the no post - thing.

But that's where the BIOS reset comes in: I reseted the BIOS, but than: none of it worked at all.

Only after the reset, I had this stuff I told you.

My actual guess is that is is a problem to reset the BIOS, if you have a USB-Stick in the Front USB port (no idea why I put it in the front).

So, I will check out BIOS Flashback, to be secure that the BIOS is not half-flashed. or something.

Otherwise, all I did was checking. I thought about some part beeing shorted out, so I unplugged the GPUs, the Soundcard and the pumps and fans.

But this had no influence what so ever.

The post code is 71, somewhat, 00, before she shuts down. I will google that to see what I can find out.

Unplug your drive and reset your BIOS to default. Activate the SATA mode to RAID and deactivate the ASMedia controller or ports. Make sure system posts, boot up to the underscore prompt or NO OS display. Now plug in the drives (if all previous has worked), on boot up stop at the RAID BIOS (control I), make sure the RAID array is as before. Now let the system boot.

Terve!

Thanks for the reply.

First off, sorry for the delay. I had my final examination, so I did not bother about my PC.

Unfortuately it did not work, when I did what you said.

After that I plugged in a USB Drive with a BIOS and restored the BIOS again.

It worked, but as I put in the settings again (i think this is my fault), it was not working anymore, so I did a reset again, but this one did not work eighter.

Than I plugged my USB-Stick in and it worked again. I do not know if this was a hazard or not.

Now, at the moment I am typing this post on her. (USB-Stick is removed now)

But, there is still the problem of the error.

I disabled both ASM1061 storage controllers in the BIOS, but it happens again.

Did I pick the wrong things to disable?

The Intel SSDs are on port 4 and 5 (showed in BIOS), as I remeber.

I will flash the BIOS to 1408 (or whatever is actual) and see again, but I do not really think that this helps.

Plug your SSD's into the middle two ports of the 10 ports you have (as you look down on the motherboard), those are the Intel port 0 and port 1.

Terve!

I plugged them in, as you said.

Now the error-posting SSD is in the top spot of the RAID Setup that is showing up at the start of the PC.

Unfortuately, I do not know how to separate them (if it was needed).

There are just 2 SSDs and I have to believe that the upper one in the RAID menu ist the one in port 1 I guess...

Otherwise, no difference at all.
