What do you like doing? Don't think anyone else can really answer what you want. Also balance it with the jobs that are available (or will be by the time you'll be looking) and if you have any kind of pay expectations.

I took electronic engineering instead of a computing path, but the two are somewhat related. Had to do some programming. Don't think it would suit me to do as a full time job but ok in smaller doses. The products I used to work on were VOIP related. I wasn't responsible for the network stack, but company still thought it a good idea to get everyone levelled up in that area. I got a CompTIA Network+ certification, and started a CCNA course. Never took the exam for that! Again, gave me an insight on what a network engineer might do, but wasn't my personal interest area. Many products were USB and/or Bluetooth connected, so had to get good at troubleshooting that. I ran a test lab there. The main software used a database to store results. I had to manage that but thankfully didn't have to dig too deep as that really isn't an interest area.

computer engineering is one that is slept on and is pretty cool. you learn how to make the chips that go into computers. Be that transistors, analog circuitry, or architecture.

That knowledge is all held by grey beard wizards so you will need college for that path.
