hey guys,

I've a p8z77-i with a 3770k (stock clock atm) and noticed that the bios supports ssc for the vrm and cpu. After some research, I discovered that enabling ssc for the cpu essentially requires enabling ssc on my storage devices. Is that incorrect? Some of the articles I read were 5+years old and mentioned SCSI's need for a consistency in the cpu (so a cpu w/o ssc). I have a seagate stbd4000400 (sataIII hdd), a toshiba 128GB ssd (sataIII), and a mushkin chronos deluxe 240GB ssd (sataIII). The ssds are hooked up via sataIII, of course, but the hdd, despite being sataIII, is connected by a sataII port (with it being an hdd, I dont figure it matters).

Some places, I saw that hdds require jumpers to enable ssc; however, my drive seems to be missing the pins by the sata connector.

I want to enable ssc to reduce emi.  How, if I can, would I enable this feature on each drive? Would I have to enable it (if possible) on my gtx 660? On every component (once again, if possible)? I'm completely lost, but from what I could gather, the components sync clock speeds, and if ssc is enabled on only a few, then interaction between components may go awry.

Hmm I always remember spread spectrum being something you disabled when overclocking.

 

I'd leave things alone, it believe it will tie the sata bus to the base/pcie clock.

 

If you aren't experience problems without it I'd just leave it alone :)
