Hello guys I,

My 2 last RAM slots stopped working out of nowhere. I used to have 2*8gb 3200MHz RAM and added 2 more 8gb sticks and it worked for a while but it stopped worked and I don't know why.

I found out that my 2 last RAM slots don't work anymore. I know it's not the RAM sticks since they work individualy or with another sick but as soon as I try any of the 2 right slots my PC won't boot and the DRAM led lights up.

Not only I can only use half of my RAM, the worst part is that I can't even use dual channel anymore like shown in the photo.

Do you think I should just get a new motherboard or there's a way to fix this?

Thanks fou your time guys.

What motherboard and processor do you have?

Have you tried removing and reinstalling your CPU?

Yes I tried and I also looked for any bent pin but there wasn't any

My motherboard is an Aorus B550 Pro V2 and my CPU is a Ryzen 5 5600X

The memory controller is on the CPU, not the motherboard.

Did you try the RAM after reseating the CPU?

Tried a bios update (or reflash if you're already on the latest version)?

Checked the CMOS battery voltage?

Can you try with a different CPU?

I tried everything you said except checking the CMOS battery voltage and try another CPU...

Do I have to use a voltmeter to check it or there's a way to check this on the computer ?

And I don't really have another CPU or someone that has a spare CPU that I could try...

But from what I understand it can't be a motherboard issue right?

If it's only a CPU problem I don't mind changing it

A multimeter, voltmeter, or battery tester which supports 3.3V batteries can be used. If you don't have such a tool (I recommend getting a budget multimeter), just replace the battery outright, they are cheap.

I'd say there is a 60% chance it's the CPU (memory controller) and 40% the motherboard.

If it's the CPU, the CPU will exhibit the same issue on a different board, and if it's the board it'll have the same problems with another CPU.

Now that I recall it I already changed the CMOS battery and it didn't fix the issue

Guess I have to find a motherboard to see if it's the CPU or my motherboard that's faulty

It'll have to wait tho
