What are the best msconfig settings for a fast, stable PC that won’t stutter?

Details to Include:

  1. General Tab:

    • Should I use Normal or Selective Startup?
  2. Boot Tab:

    • What should the timeout value be?
    • Should I enable "Number of processors" or "Maximum memory"?
  3. Services Tab:

    • Which services are safe to disable for better performance?
  4. Startup Tab:

    • Are there specific startup programs I should disable for stability?
  5. Any Additional Tips:

    • How do I avoid issues or crashes while tweaking these settings?

The defaults.

Tinkering with msconfig at random isn't going to help anything.

There's essentially no Service that will be running "robbing" you off of performance, since most that would already aren't active and only activate during the tasks they are designed to answer to.
