Looking at getting a 5080 or 5070Ti

(Already bought a 9800x3d for MSRP)

Current System specs:

Intel i9 9900k (upgraded for free 2 years ago)

Rtx 2080 Super

32gb (4x8) g.skill 3600 ram

MPG z390m gaming micro ATX

Corsair 1000 w 80+Gold

Samsung 970 Evo 500gb for system software

Samsung 970 Evo 1Tb for everything else.

Fractal micro case.

3 1920x1080 240 Hertz monitors

Also using Noctua fans and micro Noctua fans cooler in the current system.

I'm on windows 10 (and do have a thumb drive laying around somewhere)

1. Budget & Location

USA - USD; My budget is probably around keeping under 3k USD. I've already purchased an AMD 9800X3D For MSRP.

2. Aim

4k gaming. Likely maxing out graphics on games such as Elden ring, Baldur's Gate 3, and I just started my chronological playthrough of the final fantasy series.

And getting the best frame rate performance for shooters like Escape from Tarkov and Marvel Rivals.

3. Monitors

Currently have 3 monitors at 1080p 240 Hertz but would like to keep 2 of those and upgrade a primary monitor to possibly a high end ultra wide.

4. Peripherals

My keyboard is currently a 2 year old Logitech g815 but I will need a new mouse. I also need a new headset as my 5 year old astro a50's seem to be dying.

5. Why are you upgrading?

My GPU is starting to crash more frequently when playing games such as eft and marvel rivals at minimal graphics settings. Tbf I've gotten 5 years out of it that is the least I could ask.

A 4090doesnt properly do 4k 144hz in like any of these games. Neither will these new cards.

4k high refresh isnt here yet for new games.

Id just get a nice 1440p gaming display and call it good.

As fot gpu crashing probably either temps or just old windows install typical issues

Yea I mean it's more like "4K" if I were to be honest just going to shoot for reliable high frame rates.

And when playing a single player game get the best oooo, aahhhhhhh out of it. You know?

Apologies I also think if the heat sinks were replaced on my current 2080 it would probably be good for another couple years.

why not shoot both fidelity and refresh rate with 1440p? Unless if you're going to TV size 1440p is easier to drive at high framerate and the monitor market is so much cheaper even for 21:9. I wouldn't go for 32:9 personally because a lot of games are not really well supported which means you're going to just be back at the 16:9 which leaves you with black bars. If your intention is to use the monitor brand's software to split that 32:9 real estate into smaller virtual displays then go knock yourself out but i personally don't have decent experience with them.

Probably go the 1440 route. Likely spend more on cooling and ram but memory config and performance are what I lack understanding of. Power Wise I'll probably look at like a 1200 or so unit. And cooling i'm a big noctua stan so likely to go that route.

More so lacking the understanding of what I need out of a motherboard and Memory. But I know I need atleast 64gb minimum when it comes to tarkov. That game has ridiculous memory leaks and my current 32gb's was just barely cutting it.

Never mind RAM understanding I've taken the time to educate myself. Apologies for any confusion. If anybody finds themselves reading this thread and would also like to understand some things about memory...... maybe. Here is what I read. 😄
