Hi,

I know this is a popular subject on most forums but please bear with me for this....

Full specs can be seen here: http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Alexvs/saved/Z8x9TW but summary:

MB: Asus Maximus Hero VI

CPU: Intel i5-4670k

PSU: EVGA 650G

RAM: G.Skill 2 x 4GB DDR3-1866

GPU: Asus GTX 770

Problem:

No POST/video signal received upon booting. When I turn on the PSU the start and reset buttons light up but upon pressing start I instantly receive 00 on the Q-Code panel and no Q-LED's light up below 24 pin. There's power to the CPU cooler which is spinning (Intel cooler used for the most recent test), HDD starts, GPU fans start up and the case power button light is lit. I've tested with and without the GPU in.

What I've done from the start:

1. Installed CPU, attached my H100i, plugged in the 24-pin and 8-pin (tried both CPU1 and CPU2 cable), installed the memory and GPU and powered up - no POST/video signal

2. Unplugged the GPU and tried with the on-board graphics with the same result

3. I tried on another TV and a PC monitor with 2 different HDMI cables so ruled the screen and cables as the issue

4. I downloaded the latest BIOS file and put on a USB drive to use the flashback process which completed fine. Powered up and same result

5. Checked the manual again and support site which mentioned to clear the CMOS so followed steps and no change

6. Tried with 1 RAM module installed in each of the slots independently, repeating with the 2nd module to rule those out

7. Returned the motherboard to retailer who found it had gone into an emergency shutdown mode so they re-set the BIOS and let it run for a while. They phoned with the news the next day and sent it back to me as working, woohoo.....or so I thought!

When I got it back I thought superb and fitted it into my case and plugged all cables and components in minus the H100i as sent that back due to damage on the radiator so used the Intel cooler this time and the same thing happened again, 00 error with no LED's lit :( This indicates to me there is something wrong with another component which has thrown it into this shutdown mode which stops it from lighting up any error LED's. I've contacted them to ask how I recover it from this like they did and to see what they suggest.

While I wait for their reply has anyone got any suggestions so I can try identify my problem component(s) or anyone know about this shutdown mode? I think it could be my CPU as can't tell whether it has power, however I have tried both 8 pin cables that come with the PSU in both CPU1 and CPU2 ports on the PSU.

Thanks in advance and I honestly tried to keep this as summarised as possible so sorry for the length.

Alex
