With the help of many others on ltt, this is my finished parts list. Please give me opinions and views, anything at all is greatly appreciated!!!

Do you have a budget?

Resolution?

Use case?

 

1. Look into Thermalright's aqua elite v3/v4 or Frozen notte they should perform similar, but the TR will cost a lot less.

 

2.Get a 7800xt (any will work), unless you care about Ray tracing and dlss then look into a 4070 super or ti

 

3.You should be able to get away with a 750w PSU (on new list)

If anything its under lol. Is there much of a  difference between a 4070 and a 7800xt?

Not much, but enough for the small price difference in Au. About 10% max(in ideal conditions)is my guess.

Looking online it seems that ray tracing makes quite a big difference in most of the games I play... So might go with the 4070.

In rasterized games, that is. If you care about Ray tracing(path tracing also) then the 4070 will be better, but at that point I'd recommend a 4070 super if it is in your budget.

• Strong cooler, not sure how loud/quiet it might be, probably average or better in terms of noise
• MB not most impressive but works, could choose something little stronger, but should handle 7700x
• -value +aesthetics
• Speed:
• fast RAM with tight timings
• Decent NVME, there are cheaper and faster choices, though not saying this one isn't fast enough for gaming
• Good PSU
• Case is whatever, big, has fans, fits parts
• Aesthetics good, does the case come with those fans?

7800 XT:

• Faster raster 7%
• more VRAM
• more rich in some internal components

4070:

• DLSS
• RT performance
• other Nvidia sprinkles
• draws little less power but who cares
• has increased performance in specific creative programs

 

Fire up older game see no difference:

 

 

Fire up something more intensive AMD gets bit more fps:

 

 

 

Turn on RT in Hogwarts Legacy and suddenly the tide turns:

Price wise though, I'd glance at 7900 GRE, since it's also 900$ like your RTX 4070 XFX Quicksilver Magnetic Air

 

But, RTX 4070 is 830$, yours is more because it's white, so there's that...

7900 GRE, has same AMD advantage and Nvidia disadvantage, it sits comfortably next to 4070 Super,
