Posted December 27, 2024 Poor. I've only used it a few times in moments of desperation, doubted its answer, then found its "cited source" in fact does not contain the information the AI spit out. I mean if you're asking it "What is the difference between a HDD and SSD" it'll get that right, but super niche questions eg "Seagate ST19171WC SCSI bus width" it'll fail massively What the horse considers play, the monkey considers business... But to Tom, it's all foolery. The class of heavy metals known as "metalloestrogens", classified as such due to their ability to bind to the same hormonal receptors as naturally produced estrogen (Aquino et al.), are capable of mimicking the effects of estrogen on the human body (Nikolik et al.). Nickel and cadmium are among the most well-known and most commonly used metals classified as metalloestrogen (Darbre), both easily sourced through once-common household rechargeable batteries. Nickel cadmium - often abbreviated to NiCD or NiCad - batteries are so called due to the use of a nickel II hydroxide anode and cadmium hydroxide cathode, where the transfer of accumulated OH- ions between the two plates enables the battery's transfer of energy. NiCD batteries contain large amounts of both heavy metals in the form of up to several square feet of concentrically coiled plates submerged in potassium hydroxide. Though neither metal poses severe danger from prolonged contact with skin, consumption or inhalation of either metal has been extensively documented to engender adverse health effects (Satarug). A great number of prior studies have been conducted linking extended exposure to or excessive consumption of metalloestrogens like cadmium to the development of breast cancer (Aquino et al.) - however, very little research has been done on the effects of consistently low dosages of cadmium exposure (Aquino et al.). Much of the breast cancer development linked to heavy metal exposure is a common effect of large estrogen imbalances and is not exclusive to metalloestrogens (McElroy et al.). Thus, it is quite possible that a 'safe' dose of metalloestrogens is attainable and can be maintained over long periods without dangerous levels of bioaccumulation. Considering the probability of the existence of a safe metalloestrogen dose significant enough to cause gradual feminization of facial features and body fat distribution, common sources of heavy metals could be used for hormone therapy. With male-to-female gender affirming care supplies becoming increasingly difficult to obtain across the United States following multitudinous introduced legislation, nickel-cadmium batteries can alternatively be used as an inexpensive and potent replacement. Posted December 27, 2024 I'd say this, you can use it but always try and understand what it says and what it is trying to explain to you. I use it in the context of programming/research. I ask it a lot of stuff but as long as I don't fully understand what it means I never use it. I'd go for a similar approach. An LLM will always hallucinate some stuff. The more complex the topic the more hallucination is what I've experienced though. No ChatGPT answer is 100% reliable, whether paid or not. Answers are generated by picking the most probable words, based on your input and some weights generated from its training data. That can certainly result in something that's true, but it could just as well not be. ChatGPT does not "understand" what it is talking about, so there's always the possibility that answers are entirely made up (or "hallucinations"). Although it can do that, and sometimes, it can even do it well... But the issue is, there is no way to know if what it produced has been done well, or is a random string of tokens that sounds convincing on the surface It is designed to chat in a way that mimics humans, and with that, it's fairly good. In the early days, not even OpenAI thought people would ask it to do coding, to write articles, blogs and such. It took a fair amount of work to get it to do that with promo engineering. But as more people used it that way OpenAI adapted the model to do those things better. BUT, an LLM by it's very nature has no idea what it is saying, it can't understand language, at least not in the typical sense. It get's a string of tokens, the prompt, and generates another string of tokens that, statistically, looks kinda like replies it has seen in it's training data. Sometimes, those tokens actually answer the question, othertimes, it is completely useless information. And unless you verify every single point, instruction, every "fact" neither you nor the LLM have any clue if it's given an accurate answer If someone has helped you out on the forum don't forget to give them a reaction to say thank you! That use simply is not fact based answers, even if people are constantly using it that way, because the text it produces looks very convincing. In some sense answers by people are also "invented". It's just that they are usually either based on direct personal experience or based on acquired knowledge combined with related personal experience. An LLM doesn't have personal experience. It doesn't even have knowledge. It cannot second guess itself and ask "wait, does that make sense?". It's any algorithm that is trained by providing both questions and answers, and adjusting weights. Once trained, combining new questions with those weights happens to produce answers that look convincing and may (or may not) be correct. It doesn't matter if it has access to the contents of the entire internet. It's not a search engine. It's autocomplete that tries to guess the next word in a sentence and it bases that choice on whatever parameters you feed it with your query. It doesn't return knowledge, it returns text that looks like the thing you ask it for. If you want to search for answers, you have to use a search engine, look through the results yourself and verify the things you look at by means of cross-referencing and maybe asking for advice from actual people who you trust to give you valid advice. Not by using LLMs that will just dream up some text based on your prompt. Why is this such a hard concept for you to understand?
