Hello everyone,
I'm trying to record some music and since i don't have a good microphone to record my amp, i'll go digital and try guitar rig.
I've seen online that connecting the instrument directly to the mobo microphone input, you can get a lot of delay, and since i don't have a dedicated sound card, it will use the mobo one (UD3H - Gigabyte).

Can anyone suggest a good soundcard for my pourpose? I ust don't want any lag troughout my playing.
Or even better, a way to reduce it by using the mobo card.

Thanks.

EDIT: i'm from italy and budget is as low as possible.

Thanks for the fast responde but it's a little too expensive.

What do you think of this one? I guess it's the cheaper model, but it should be fine for what is my need

For low latency you need an ASIO driver. If it has do be as cheap as possible I would suggest to try the free ASIO4AlL ASIO driver. With the right settings you should be able to get a pretty low latency even with the onboard soundcard.

Most basic USB devices will do this for you.  I use an old USB creative digital LX, line in and line out. Works a treat with the ASIO drivers.  Behringer also have a unit that is similar.

Don't wast your money on Asus stuff, there is no real benefit to it and when you get ready to move on to more professional gear the USB stuff can be used on laptops and in portable recording rigs.

Mmmh interesting, so something like this:

http://www.amazon.it/gp/aw/d/B0028RZ23I/ref=pd_aw_sbs_2

Can get me the lowish latency i want and can work well enough on my laptop as well? Very, very nice.

I can live with some latency, the important thing is that even if the sound is processer slowly it must be in tempo, but i guess the more latency you have and more un-even and diverse timing you're gonna get.

Thanks everyone for the help!

no not that one, something like this, although it is no longer in production you may get one secondhand real cheap:

If you're looking for good quality recording, check out Focusrite.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005OZE9SA?pc_redir=1401273601&robot_redir=1

Not super cheap, but far from expensive. It'll give you 2 1/4" inputs that double as xlr so you can hook up a condenser mic if you want. With asio it'll get you zero latency and great quality. Also, check out amplitube 3 as well. Guitar rig was cool, but I felt like amplitube sounded better, and have options like controlling the signal chain.
