Greetings,

I am building a new 9800x3d system, and have everything but a GPU.  I have a 3080 ftw3 hybrid on current system, and really don't want to take it apart.

Am looking for suggestions on a temp GPU for new build.  Already planning on getting a 50 series for the new build when released.

Thanks for any helpful suggestions.

If this is just a temporary solution, then you don't need a GPU at all, the 9800X3D includes an iGPU.

Otherwise, the 9800X3D should comfortably work with any GPU you pair it with. What's your use case and budget?

What exactly do you mean by temporary?
As Eigen said, 9800x3d has an intergrated GPU, so you can use your pc, just, not play games much.

He can play games, just need to not have too high expectation of a graphical settings & fps.

There is approximately 99% chance I edited my post

I would assume temporary until 50-series is available. So presumably until some time in January, provided OP wants one of the top end cards.

I am in the same situation. The 9800x3d does have an iGPU but it is...not great. I ran TimeSpy and it scored 828.

Besides, it's not certain I will be able to find the 50 series card I want as soon as it is released. So I purchased a second-hand 3060 to be able to play at least some games while I wait. In any case having a spare GPU lying around is a good idea in case your main one starts malfunctioning. You can easily determine if a problem is due to a bad GPU by switching it with another and seeing if the problem persists. It's not a total waste of money.

I am just looking for something to play on, and yes I am going to buy a 50 series.  But the 90 isn't coming out supposedly till later in q1.

So am just looking for an idea on what to do during the mean time.

Any reason to not keep using the old system in the meantime?

Else well swapping a gpu is very non invasive usually and done in 5 minutes.

Greetings,

I would agree, but with a hybrid card and rgb, it can be an hour to undo, and then put it all back together when I am done.  And system is going hand-me-down to my wife since she buying a 3d printer and wants a computer to do it with.

Prolly just get a cheap 3060 card, but was just looking for opinions.

I'd just reuse the hybrid. Sure it's a hassle, but better than paying 300 bucks for a gpu you won't need a few months later.

If you REALLY want a gpu to game on(and made of money), tell us what country you're from, how much you want to spend and what resolution you'll be playing in.

Or just get a used 6000 amd gpu, like a 6750xt, even new that card gets some good pricing. It's great for 1080p, and even some 1440p.

Id just reuse the hybrid really and get your wife a cheap used gpu or hell if the thing has an igpu itll be fine too you need almost no gpu power for 3d printing work.
