Facebook Messenger slow

The last week or so, my Facebook Messenger app has been very slow, taking forever to send things to other people, and I've tried everything, reinstall, rebooting my Android phone, and so on.

 

Anybody who've experienced something similar or have a solution to this issue?

Is this problem entirely localised to your single phone? If so, what model of phone is it?

Have you tried factory wiping, then fully updating your phone? Do you use any VPN apps, any (urgh) antivirus apps? Did you install any apps from places other than the google play store? Is the phone's storage full or close to full?

No to everything except the factory resetting, that is not worth the size of the issue for me, but thanks for the suggestions and the response.
