buying new gpu

Hi I just bought the ryzen 7 9800X3D along with a x870 pro rs MB and 32 gigs drr5. Im wondering if I should wait till the 5080's come out to upgrade from my 3070 or if a 40 series card would do the trick for a cheaper price and not bottleneck the cpu.

Personally, I’d wait, I mean, the 3070 is pretty good and should definitely hold you over long enough. But from what I hear, 50 series is going to be eye wateringly expensive. As if 40 series wasn’t

Nvidia 3060 will be good enough.

1. You will not bottleneck a CPU. 

2. What are your goals / graphical needs?

3. While the new 5090 and 5080 are likely to be out at launch, availability is likely going to be spotty unless you have a reliable source. Which means you may be without a new card. 

4. The 5080 will probably be a $1500+ MSRP card, that is more than a 4080 is used now, but a bit less than a 4090.
