Quick question, my motherboard has a eight pin and a four pin but the power supply only has two 8-pin cables. Can I plug in 1 8 to the eight pin? And can I also plug in an 8 pin to the four pin?

MB is gigabyte x870 eagle Wi-Fi 7

PSU is MSI mag a1000g pcie5

1x8pin will be enough unless you run a 7950X or 9950X at 100% load.

1x8pin can supply a continous load of 226w.

But yes. You can plug the 8 pin into the 4 pin and leave the half outside.

Not ideal of course.

There is a little evidence to support the lower resistance to the load gives more predictable voltages, and slightly better clocks(under PBO)
