Synology Nas

tronder

Hi guys, Im looking to get a Synology Ds212j Nas for home and uni. Was wondering if anyone knows if i just have 1 hard drive in there, can you possibly just add another later to have redundancy or do you have to just have 2 from the start to keep all my data?

I was thinking Synology Hybrid Raid, but can you do that with 1 drive?

Does using WD Red Drives really matter?

Hi there, i found this in the DS212j manual:

So you should be fine.

reds are the best priced Western Digital drives that i would use in a NAS, but personally i would use Seagate baracuda drives, they are cheaper and are just as good in my opinion.
