LOL, PCPartPicker is down so... I'll build it from my memory, please check the price for me then

CPU: i5 4670k

CPU Cooler: Cooler Master: Hyper 212 EVO

Mobo: MSI Z87 G45 Gaming Mobo

Disk: 1 ~ 120GB SSD from Kingston (the V300) and 1 1TB WD Black or 1TB Seagate Barracuda, whichever is cheaper

GPU: MSI GTX 780 Twinfrozer, I remember that being the cheapest custom cooler 780 from MSI but it's good

Case: Cooler Master Elite 431 plus (black) or anycase you want that's < 100$

PSU: Corsair 600W CX Semi modular PSU

These stuff should cost you about 1200USD if I remember it correctly, as I remember with the 770 instead of 780 it cost ~ 1000USD

If it's overbudget, drop the SSD or buy SSD and save up a bit more for a HDD later on

My rig: Intel Core i7 4790k | MSI Z97 PC Mate | GSKILL Ripjaws X 16GB 1866MHz | ADATA Premier SP550 480GB SSD | Seagate Barracuda 3TB | Seagate Barracuda 2TB  | MSI Gaming X GTX 1070 | Thermaltake Versa N21 | Corsair CX550M Semi Modular PSU | AOC G2460PF 144Hz | Logitech G502 | GSKILL Ripjaws KM780  | GAMDIAS HEPHAESTUS V2  PCPartPicker | Old Build Log | New Build Log

I would advise at that budget to stay with the i5 4570 and a h87 or h97 motherboard. 4670k is just not worth it.

RAM was basically the cheapest decent 8GB kit I could find.

to save money you could get a smaller SSD or no SSD (although I really think SSDs are worth it)

and get a smaller 1TB hard drive or use a hard drive from your current build.

is 550 watt enough for a gtx 780?

and maybe im goin for a bigger and cheaper case

550W is more than enough. even 450W would be enough but the price difference is non existant and that XFX PSU is excellent. it's a seasonic made PSU and is whisper quiet.

For the case do you mean that you want a regular mid tower atx case?
