mATX PC with entry level water cooling

Hey guys,

I'll have done my GCSEs this summer, i dont know what you have in the US but watever.

My parents promised that if I did well I would get some money to upgrade my PC.

I don't know how much but maybe im being a bit optimistic with my planning but it hopeful :D.

Anyways, so I am currently planning an upgrade and also I will be going with mATX, mostly

becuase of the amazing Parvum case I've found.

Planned Specs:

Case: Parvum Systems S2.0  Orange/Black                                   Link: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CA-012-PS

CPU: i5 4670K                                                                                Link: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=CP-470-IN

Mobo: Gigabyte Z97MX-Gaming 5                                                  Link: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MB-502-GI

Memory: 16GB Kingston Fury (black) 1600                                    Link: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-167-KS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=2426

Fans: 4x Noiseblocker e-loops                                                        Link: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=FG-052-NB

I also currently have a 1TB WD Blue drive and a 240GB M500 SSD for storage and a GTX660

that I may upgrade instead of watercooling. Another plan I had was to get plastidip or spray paint

and make the heatsinks on the board orange to go with the case.

I have yet to decide on if I should buy a new powersupply, cos I really want to as the CX500 i have

is about the loudest part in my system at the moment and I want to make this new PC really quiet.

I also want to do custom sleeving, I know I have a lot of plans :P, and so I want a modular PSU.

As for watercooling this is my currrent scheme:

Any advice for me, I am welcome to hear it.

Build looks good. Any modern 80+ Gold Modular PSU will do well, something from corsair or silverstone is always a good bet. On the corsair at least, if you get one a bit higher wattage, the fan curve will be... "higher"? So essentially, your PSU fan will not even be on until you start gaming or other intensive program. I'm no expert on silent PSUs, so there may be a better brand out there for that.

Love the look of that case for some reason.

Watercooling:

1. Get de-ionized water from any grocery store, it should be cheaper.

2. Get a silver kill coil. If you don't, you will end up with algae because of using de-ionized instead of "actual" coolant that has additives.

3. What are you using for a CPU Block? XSPC Raystorm is highly rated, and has an aluminum faceplate that you could pull off and paint orange pretty easily, not to mention wire up some orange LED's for the bracket :)

Why not go to 8gb?

Its a good point but I have made some youtube videos for fun recently and am part of my schools film/video making society and so plan to be doing some editing on the machine so I think that 16GB is better than 8 or am i wrong?

-snip-

Thanks for the suggestions, I think I'm probably gonna go with an RM series PSU from Corsair and probably hold out on watercooling for now, It's just a bit too expenisve :P.

However, I still plan to do custom sleeving and I may end up making my own cables from scratch becuase I don't know how easy ti will be to sleeve the ribbon style cables the RM series have.

If half of the ideas I have ever spent an afternoon planning actually happened my be the happiest kid in the world :D. I hope you've do well mate.

Yeah, I slowly purchased all my watercooling parts piece by piece over about 6 months. It gets spendy, but is cool and fun :) I have heard that with the right tools, those ribbon cables corsair uses on the modular units are pretty easy to sleeve once you get through some trial and error. But I know they have their SATA connectors as inline instead of pigtail style, and I am not sure how those come apart....

I just found another thread on the forum which said that it is actually very easy to split up the cables in order to sleeve them, and it was from Lutro so I kinda trust him. So it doesn't look like I'll have to make custom cables. As for the SATA connectors from TTLs video it looks like the backs on them will just be able to be removed like the connectors that are available from the sleeving sites, so hopefully that won't be too hard..

Nice! I was seeing Lutro's threads here and other places when looking it up as well.

You should post a build log if you're taking the time to build this system and customize it a bit, would look forward to seeing it!

Don't worry I will. I think ill probably end up with getting a large tower heatsink for the CPU like a Dark Rock Pro 3 or something
