Hello,

i have a very odd issue with my windows 10 custom built pc. If i turn it on with the power button it will say there is no boot device detected, but if i boot, then go into the bios and exit without changing anything it boots into windows without any issues. This happened randomly a few months back and i just ignored it, but i just moved my pc into a new case and ensured all connections are firmly attached so i figured id see if anyone has any ideas.

Hardware:

AMD Ryzen 9 7950x

NVIDIA Geforce RTX 4070

64 gb ddr5 ram

Asus B650E motherboard

Samsung SSD 850 EVO 1TB (Boot drive)

Samsung SSD 980 PRO 2TB

Seagate 12TB hard drive

Im using windows 10 education and am fulling updated on it and all drivers

Does it boot into Windows in the new case?

If not:
Disconnect all but the boot drive & see if THAT goes straight to Desktop...
Connect the monitor to the iGPU the 7950x has, to see ifTHAT goes straight to desktop...

**I frequently edit any posts you may quote; please check for anything I 'may' have amended.**

Current PC spec. in my profile.
Can I realistically call myself a gamer, if I only play ONE, twenty year old game...?

Did you test boot it, before you built in into the case?

WHY NOT...?!

Have not reset my UEFI to default, what all would that reset?

UEFI is the "BIOS".

It'll just set its every setting to factory defaults. I was suspicious about a change in boot settings might cause your system to not see your boot disc on POST but see it on UEFI, so it only works when you went into there.

  • 1 month later...

So I finally had time to do this, and first I said the wrong motherboard, I have the ASRock B650E PG RIPTIDE WIFI

Second I tried reseting to default in the bios, pc would not boot past bios at that point. I reseated all sata, power, and my m.2 drive. I cleared my cmos, and as it stands now with cms enabled I can load past the bios and get a black screen with a static white underscore in the corner. I have no clue what to do at this point, any ideas would be much appreciated
