Concerned about CPU Pins Bending

Go to solution Solved by Needfuldoer,

As long as the processor sits completely flat and fully seated into the socket, it should be fine.

First-time builder here and I saw one of the pins looking a bit weird on my new CPU. It doesn't look bent, but it feels more like out of alignment. I'd like your opinion to see if I am being paranoid about this or if this is something I need to return.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600

I assemble and package microelectronics as a work for 7+ years. First thing to do is to try what Needfuldoe said indeed, just sit it there and see if it goes down : the socket on your motherboard has a lot tolerances.

From the picture, it looks likes nothing so it should be fine. If you ever have to bend it back, don't be afraid if you respect the following advice, those pins are very strong and tested with military standard that are pretty rough. Just use a tweezer with flat head and, in your case as you don't have experience, soft ends --> you want to grab the WHOLE pin from top to bottom with your tweezer coming in the direction of the pin. Then very gently apply pressure in the direction you want to bend it back. They will bend back very easily and it's absolutely no risk if you take your time and don't apply shit pressure (we do that up to 15° on parts flying in space or even harsher condition).
