Hello.
first the question might be a bit obvious for most of you but please bear with me I'm coming from proxmox/linux background so windows server solutions is a bit vague for me.
we have 2 windows servers running on 2 different hardware servers. both of them are running raid 6 and both of them have multiple vm's using hyper-v.
what i want to achieve is create a backup or a running clone where i can recover from in case of disaster. meaning i can have the whole system up and running as fast as possible . Also another point is the ability to create these clones weekly using deduplication if possible to minimize the backup duration.
Also i shouldn't need to shutdown the servers to be able to create these backups .
Is there a software paid or free that can do this . i have used Borg and Proxmox backup server but unfortunately they wouldn't work in my case , any recommendation would be highly appreciated.
thanks

Do Restore Points exist for Windows Server? That might be the easiest and most convenient way if it's possible.

  1. Veeam? They have a free version that should meet all these needs, and generally works pretty well in my use.

@Crunchy Dragon Thank you for your reply. Yes restore points are available i guess (from windows server manager its called windows backup i guess ) but my idea is to have a 1:1 clone where in case of complete system lost i can restore and boot from another server and have everything including hype-v virtual machines.
