Hey guys today i got my new processor a 3570k and thought id try do some overclocking, to start i was idling @ around 38C, initially i thought meh must be me and bad cable / airflow management. Then i got it upto 4ghz i was peaking at around 77-80C... now i knew something was wrong, when installing my processor i noticed some give in the bracket, ( H100i has a backplate and standoff screws) tried to tighten the standoffs but they where fully tightened. Then i turned to the trusty inter webs, here i found other people with this issue, so i tryed the fix they suggested, placing 4 rubber/plastic washers between the back plate and the mobo this ment that standoff screws could do up tightly and there was tension! Success! Re applied thermal paste put the block back on yada yada... Boom. i was idle sub 30 ( ~27 stock clock) and overclocking i was getting around 40c with 4ghz...  now im sticking to 4.4ghz with an average around 60C

The problem is that the stock thermal paste is too thin to fill the gap between the CPU and waterblock. Just replacing the stock thermal paste with the tube kind of paste fixes the problem.

Yep my backplate was loose when fitting mine

I fit some spring clips on the screws and it was perfect

Finally checked mine a few times today before I tried the spacers. Instant 10-12°c difference at idle. Was 38, now 26. Hopefully now I can get a stable oc.
