Budget (including currency): somewhere around $1700-$2000 AUD (Australian dollars)

Country: Australia

Games, programs or workloads that it will be used for: some minor work, Fortnite, Halo Infinite and Star Wars outlaws. I would like to be able to play these games at a reasonably high framerate at 1440p but i am happy to sit at around 100 fps for halo and Star wars outlaws.

Other details (existing parts lists, whether any peripherals are needed, what you're upgrading from, when you're going to buy, what resolution and refresh rate you want to play at, etc): I currently have a 12400f and 4060, but I would like an AM5 build. I have been looking at a Ryzen 5 7600 with a Radeon rx 7800xt. I already have a case in mind, the Antec C3 ARGB but i am happy with a slightly different case, I would like a front glass panel though.

I built My computer.

Around 1900 AUD all in all

I kept your case (personally i like it too)

I put in a 7600x instead of a 7600 and some nice rgb ram and cooler but if you wanna shave it down a bit you can put in a r5 7600,the non rgb variant of the cooler or a diff one like the arctic freezer 36 (my personal suggestion as it's smaller, cheaper and better looking while having more than decent performance)  and some flare x5 instead of z5 just make sure it supports expo and is 6000mt/s and cl30 or at worst cl32.

The gpu is a 3 fan model but you can put in a 2 fan variant such as the asus one that pops up but id suggest keeping the gigabyte one as its on the cheaper side and comes with 3 fans.

Also if you want you can throw in a pack of fans from brands like arctic or corsair to help with the airflow.

If you dont like smt or want to make any changes lemme know

I edit my posts for so if you saw a typo.... no you didn't, you are just crazy

what is the main difference between the 7600x and the 7600?

what are the main differences I will see?

A bit higher clock speeds, a lil more power draw as well so for work if what you do uses a lot of cpu it'll be better. If not and the most intensive thing you is gaming then a 7600 is a better deal in the sense that its cheaper and saves some KWs. Other differences that dont matter is the 7600 can be like 3-5% cooler and it comes with a stock cooler both of which are either not important or just smt you dont care for

To dum it down

-7600x is a bit faster and stronger so better if you have work that needs a strong cpu since it performs better in single thread and multi thread or want to push the framerates up some more without going ryzen 7 (or wait till 7600x3d becomes globally available which most likely will be the best or 2nd best deal we've seen)

-7600 still plenty good if you wanna save a buck with a bit slower clock speeds, draws less power so you save on the electricity bill while getting perfectly fine perfomance.

TL DR if you got cheap electricity and your budget allows it id suggest the 7600x, if you want to save a bit more of money currently and a bit more in the long run 7600 is a better option regardless of some small differences

Third option is getting a 7500f which performs almost identically while being significantly cheaper draws less power but is available through aliexpress(some countries like mine have it in shops though so that is not set in stone but it's mainly from there) and doesnt have an iGPU which is a small factor since youll get a dedicated gpu and youll only need it IF your gpu ever breaks

Dont sweat it and dont apologize for asking. If it wasnt for asking around and digging into this and tech in general on my own free time I'd be lost too so I'm all too familiar with your situation

The one I sent you without the rgb stuff and a 7600 with a cheaper case would be a strong contender as you pay less, you skip the rgb stuff that can drive the price up for looks and still get all the performance you want. The most fps without going nvidia would just be a 7800x3d with a 7900gre or 7900xt without breaking the bank completely (but those are way outside your budget and they are bordering the diminishing results threshold).

I am of the philosofy though that best computer is the one you like and feel comfortable paying for. For example i wouldnt pay more than at most 1200-1300 euros for my pc but that doesnt mean i wouldnt want a 10K computer with hard line cooling and a 4090 and the best and prettiest case in the world and like 2 terrabytes of ram etc etc.

TL DR for me its the one that you like, fulfills your needs and you dont feel a tremendous financial impact/worry paying for but objectively the most efficient ,or at least a very good option, is what I sent you without the rgb stuff, a ryzen 7600 and a cheaper case
