Power supply

Go to solution Solved by kb5zue,

I have a Corsair RM1000X PSU and it has no problems taking care of the following:

Asus ROG Strix X670E-E Gaming WIFI MOBO

Amd Ryzen 7 7800X3D CPU

Corsair Ram (2x32) running at 6000Mhz.

Gigabyte 6750XT GPU with 12G VRAM

Windows 11 Pro

World of Warcraft (It's the only game I play)

Take care and good luck.

Guys I need some help with my power supply, I have a 1200w psu right now and I’m thinking of upgrading it to a 1600w psu in case of the upcoming 5090 needing more, I need help picking one that are good and if it’s a big difference between these I have seen.

Seasonic Prime TX 1600W ATX 3.0

Seasonic Prime PX 1600W ATX 3.0

be quiet! Dark Power Pro 13 1600W

Corsair AX1600i 1600W

so I have thought about these and I don’t know how much better the TX version is and if it’s much more efficient and worth it.

the PX costs 550$ and the TX costs 690$ prices here in Sweden are outrageous.

i have other options too, so what do you think, which one of these are good and efficient and worth the upgrade.

I doubt 1200W will not be enough for 5090,

what model is your current PSU? Do you have AMD or Intel CPU?

Agree with podkall, there is no reason to buy a 1600W PSU, as even an overclocked 4090 with the 14900k only uses around 600W in gaming. You can always just buy a new PSU if it's needed, when you actually know the power consumption

Okay thank you very much, I have to wait for black or discounts if I need to upgrade otherwise the prices are just too much

I have this ASUS ROG Strix Aura 1200W

and I have a 7800x3d

sounds like a good PSU, I'd keep it, especially if it's not too old (less than 7 yrs old)

I’ve had it for a year this month, do you think it will be enough for the 5090

it will be plenty.

I plan on running a 9800X3D and a 5090 on a 1000w PSU and I am not worried at all.

The card can't draw more than 600w since thats the limit of the power cable and there is no way it will use two of the new power cables ( unless its a GALAX hall of game overclocked card for pushing limits )

Having another 600w for the rest of the system is just overkill 😄

You have a solid 1200w with 10 year warranty. Its a top tier PSU.

Nothing to worry about here, buy the 5090 and enjoy 🙂
